Huge thank you to outgoing advisory board member Marg Riley

ACT psychologist Marg Riley was part of Yoga for Pain Care Australia’s first advisory board. Marg is stepping down this year so we want to shout out our appreciation!

“Thank you Marg, for the huge contribution you have made to the organisation, and to helping people with pain access community services”.

As well as a long history working with young people, including those who have experienced trauma, Marg is a yoga teacher in Canberra.

Marg became a Yoga for Pain Practitioner in 2016 and started a pain care yoga class dedicated to women with arthritis. The class has thrived! The women formed a close-knit group, going beyond pain management to embrace the richness of a growing yoga practice.

One of Marg’s most significant contributions to the Yoga for Pain Care Australia advisory was to the challenging area of professional competencies for Yoga for Pain Practitioners.

With Marg’s initiative, Practitioner level came to recognise not merely what a Practitioner had achieved in the past, but what they were committing to over the next few years of their profession. This will ensure the field and its Practitioners grow to meet the needs of our communities.

Thanks so much Marg, for your time, energy and expertise!

The team at YPCA.

I am personally incredibly grateful to Marg. It was an important year for the organisation and joining an advisory during a time of change is not easy! Among the many things Marg brought to to the team was that perspective of a professional psychologist and supervisor, combined with decades of yoga practice and teaching. Thank you Marg!
