Yoga for Pain Training Down South

Ten partial scholarships of up to $1,280 are available for health professionals, yoga teachers and social service providers working within Warren-Blackwood, Margaret River-Augusta and Collie-Harvey to complete Yoga for Pain Practitioner Training in Busselton from April 6-10, 2018.

Delivered by Yoga for Pain Care Australia in partnership with GP Down South, the training aims to equip practitioners in the field of yoga-based pain management.

The training

Yoga for Pain Training in Busselton from April 6-10, 2018 run by Yoga for Pain Care Australia.

Upon successful completion of the training, all participants qualify to receive future patient referrals from GP Down South. Practitioners are also eligible for Yoga for Pain Care Australia membership which includes listing on the national practitioner register.

Yoga teachers will also receive 6 weeks of structured group mentoring while delivering a pilot of 4 pain-sensitive yoga classes. This is the perfect opportunity to apply what you learn in a supported environment with a view to offering long term services in your community.

The scholarship
4.5 day Yoga for Pain Training is normally $1,150 and mentoring program normally $485, totalling $1,635. With $1,000 scholarship recipients pay just $600.

Eligibility
Applications are open to health professionals, yoga teachers and social service providers residing within key catchment areas of Warren-Blackwood, Margaret River-Augusta and Collie-Harvey. Note Busselton, Dunsborough and Bunbury are not included.

Selection criteria
We are looking for a diverse group of curious and open-minded learners residing throughout the south west.

Places will be offered to those who best demonstrate a willingness, capacity and readiness to offer services for people with persistent pain in their area, such as yoga, physiotherapy, or general medicine.

Participants must attend all sessions and are expected to actively participate to the best of their ability. This includes contributing to group discussions, submitting assignments within 21 days, and (in the case of yoga teachers) running a pilot of 4 pain-sensitive yoga classes while participating in the mentoring program.

Yoga for Pain Training Down South is an initiative of Yoga for Pain Care Australia and GP Down South that aims to increase community support services for south west residents living with persistent pain.

GP down south is funded by WAPHA to improve services for people with chronic conditions.
